Alfred Valbuena dropped 19 points in University of the Philippines' cakewalk win over University of the East.
Alfred Valbuena smashed 18 kills to tow University of the Philippines to a 25-22, 25-23, 25-18, win over University of the East Saturday in the 79th UAAP men’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Fying V Centre in San Juan.
The graduating hitter finished with 19 points with all but one coming from attacks to pull the Fighting Maroons to solo fourth spot with a 5-5 win-loss record.
UP pounded 38 kills with Jerahmeel Baldelovar helping the Maroons create attacking opportunities with 27 excellent sets.
John Millete finished with 13 points while Wendel Miguel and Gian San Pascual combined for 14 points for the Diliman-based squad.
The also-ran Red Warriors slid to 1-9 slate and to its second straight defeat.
Edward Camposano finished with 15 points as the only UE player in double figures.
