UP ladies rally back to get first win of season

A three-minute blitz in the second half from defending champions University of the Philippines produced two goals that helped them rally back to beat University of Santo Tomas, 2-1, for their first win in UAAP Season 79 women's football action, Saturday afternoon at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.
The second-seeded Lady Tigresses had UP on the ropes late in the the first half, courtesy of tournament top-scorer Charisa Lemoran, who logged in her seventh goal of thr season to put UST ahead just before halftime.
In danger of losing their fourth game in five outings, the defending champions went to work in the second half, and mounted a comeback, scoring twice in a span of three minutes, with an equalizer from Patricia Malonzo in the 57th minute, and a go-ahead goal from Adia Mendoza in the 60th minute.
Keeper Nicole Adlawan also played a big role in the Lady Maroons' second-half comeback, making sure that UP held on to the advantage.
"The fight, more than anything else," responded UP head coach Anto Gonzales when asked what improvements he saw during the second half of the match. "I didn't say any tactical, technical coaching during the huddle because I was so disappointed with the first half performance, but credit to the girls, they turned things around in the second half."
With the win, UP improves to one win one draw, and three losses for four points in the tournament. UST remains in second place with three wins and two losses for nine points.
