De La Salle Univesity boosted its bid for the last two Final Four berths with a four-set win over Adamson.
De La Salle University kept its flickering Final Four hopes alive by putting Adamson on the brink of elimination with a 27-29, 25-22, 25-21, 25-18, win Sunday in the 79th UAAP men’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
With only two semifinals slots still up for grabs, the Green Spikers remained in contention after climbing up the standings with a 4-6 win-loss record tied with University of Sto. Tomas.
Unbeaten three-peat seeking Ateneo de Manila (10-1) and National University (9-1) occupied the first two semis seats.
Arjay Onia led the Taft-based squad’s second straight win with 19 points built on 13 attacks, four kill blocks and a couple of aces while Cris Dumago scored all but one of his 18 points from kills.
Geraint Bacon added 15 for the Green Spikers’ revenge win against their first round tormentors. DLSU not only yielded that match last February 22 in four sets but also lost its ace hitter Raymark Woo to a knee injury (MCL).
Woo was sidelined since then and is expected to see action in the Green Spikers’ match against NU next Saturday.
The Falcons’ dropped its third straight outing and slid to 2-8 card.
Paolo Pablico and John Philip Yude scored 13 points each in a lost cause while skipper Michael Sudari got 10 markers for Adamson, which will face the Blue Eagles on Wednesday.
