University of the Philippines clashes with Adamson hoping to keep its Final Four berth bid alive.
The University of the Philippines hopes to wheel back into Final Four contention in a showdown with winless Adamson University Wednesday in the 79th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
With only three semifinals berths remaining, the Lady Maroons are hard-pressed to collect as many wins as they can to advance in the next round.
Coming off a tough loss, UP wants a morale-boosting bounce back win when the Diliman-based squad face the Lady Falcons in their 2:00 p.m. clash.
The match will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166 and via livestream.
After an impressive 4-0 start that put UP in the list of title contenders, the Lady Maroons are now struggling to keep up in the semis race with a 5-5 win-loss record tied with Far Eastern University.
League-leading Ateneo de Manila (9-1) took the first semis slot.
UP lost five of its last six games including a 27-25, 25-11, 25-17, beating at the hands of the defending champions De La Salle University Lady Spikers last Sunday.
Diana Carlos, Isa Molde and graduating players Kathy Bersola and Nicole Tiamzon need to unearth the same fire they had when the Lady Maroons won four wins in a row to open the season.
UP is favored in this match against a team that has lost all of its 10 games.
The Lady Maroons defeated the Lady Falcons, 25-18, 25-11, 25-18, last February 5 in their season opener.
Adamson is a train wreck this season, receiving whipping after whipping.
The Lady Falcons bowed down to University of Sto. Tomas, 12-25, 18-25, 25-22, 19-25, last Saturday.
