Ateneo de Manila stakes its unbeaten record against University of the East.
Defending champion Ateneo de Manila University sets its sights on moving closer to an outright championship round seat Sunday when the Blue Eagles face the also-ran University of the East in the 79th UAAP men’s volleyball tournament at the Big Dome.
The Blue Eagles are just three wins away from clinching a spot in the best-of-three Finals series and the Red Warriors are one of the obstacles the Katipunan-based squad has to hurdle.
Ateneo is undefeated after 11 games to keep its lofty spot on top of the standings.
Game time is at 8:00 a.m. followed by Far Eastern University-Adamson duel at 10:00 a.m. The Tamaraws and Falcons match will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166 and via livestream.
The Tamaraws (6-5) seek to solidify their chance to clinch one of the remaining two Final Four berths.
The Blue Eagles occupied a Final Four spot with a twice-to-beat advantage. National University (10-1) owns the other semis advantage.
The Blue Eagles are coming off a 25-18, 25-20, 25-14 win over Adamson last Wednesday and are looking to duplicate their 25-17, 25-13, 25-22, first round victory against the Red Warriors.
UE is on a three-game losing skid with its last at the hands of the Tams, 19-25, 22-25, 13-25, last Wednesday.
The Red Warriors dropped 10 of its 11 matches to remain at eighth spot behind the Falcons (2-9).
