DLSU aiming to stay perfect in second round
DLSU and FEU continue to battle for spots in the final four of UAAP Season 79 Men's Football.

MATCHES ON SATURDAY, March 25 (Rizal Memorial Stadium)
3:00 PM - DLSU vs. FEU (Women's)
5:00 PM - DLSU vs. FEU (Men's)
7:00 PM - Ateneo vs. UST (Men's)

The De La Salle Green Archers put their winning streak on the line when they lock horns once again with the Far Eastern University Tamaraws in UAAP Season 79 men's football action, Saturday afternoon at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

The Green Archers seem to have finally put their sour first round behind them, as they've started the second round on a tear, earning consutive victories against Adamson and UE respectively. Just two points behind University of Santo Tomas and National University, a third win for the Taft side pushes them to the fourth seed and strengthens their bid for another postseason appearance.

The FEU Tamaraws on the other hand, have not been a hundred percent as of late, with injuries plaguing the former back-to-back champions. FEU absorbed their first loss of the season in their last outing, falling to defending champions University of the Philippines. A win against La Salle however, puts them at level with UP and just a single point behind league-leading Ateneo.

DLSU and FEU tussle at 5:00 PM.

In the later game of the afternoon, Ateneo looks to keep their spot at the top of the standings when they take on a surging UST squad.

After a couple of draws in their last few outings, Ateneo got their first win in the second round, slipping past NU, 1-0, courtesy of league-leading scorer Jarvey Gayoso. With teams like UP and FEU quickly creeping up behind the Blue Eagles, expect their sense of urgency to increase in their coming matches. A win over a surging team in UST will not only give the Blue Eagles confidence, but it also creates more separation from the league-leaders and the number two and three seeds.

UST on the other hand, is fighting to keep themselves in the playoff picture. After winning their first two matches in the second round, the Growling Tigers have placed themselves in the fourth seed, with 13 points, but are far from safe in that position, with NU (13 points), DLSU (11 points), and even UE (5 points) still very much in the running. A big win over Ateneo will help UST tighten their grip for the final playoff spot.

Ateneo and UST meet at 7:00 PM.

Over in the women's division, league-leading DLSU look to stay unbeaten against an FEU squad with some momentum on their side.

The Lady Archers have been dominant in this tournament so far, unbeaten in four matches played. They kick off their second round campaign against former three-peat champions FEU, who notched their first win of the season in their last outing, taking down Ateneo, 3-2 behind a brace from Jean Kadil.

A win for the Lady Archers moves them a step closer to clinching a playoff spot, while a win for the Lady Tamaraws puts them right in the mix in the postseason after ending the first round at the bottom of the standings.

The DLSU and FEU ladies go head to head at 3:00 PM.
