Lawrence Colina (20) and the NU Bulldogs can move to solo fourth with a win over UEMATCHES ON SUNDAY, March 26 (FEU Diliman)
9:00 AM - Adamson vs. UP (Men's)
1:30 PM - Ateneo vs. UST (Women's)
3:30 PM - NU vs. UE (Men's)
Following Saturday's results, University of the Philippines and National University have a chance to capitalize and improve their standing in the UAAP Season 79 men's football tournament when they see action, Sunday at the FEU Diliman Football Field.
For second seeded UP, who take on Adamson University in the first match of the day, third-seeded FEU's 1-1 draw Saturday against DLSU will be a chance for the defending champs to create even more distance between them and the former back-to-back champions. Currently, UP has 21 points on six wins and three draws, while FEU has 19 points on five wins and four draws.
Adamson on the other hand remains at the bottom of the standings, but with three key guys in Daniel Gadia, Ian Clarino, and Ace Villanueva not suiting up for the Maroons, this would be the perfect chance to pull an upset.
UP and Adamson meet at 9:00 AM
In the second men's match of the day, NU meets University of the East.
With DLSU figuring in a draw and UST falling to Ateneo during Saturday's matches, NU has a chance to jump into solo fourth place with a win over the Red Warriors. NU currently has 13 points on four wins, one draw and five losses, identical with UST's record, while DLSU is at 12 points on three wins, three draws, and four losses.
UE is very capable of pulling off an upset, and a win over NU could also greatly increase their chances in breaking into the top four.
NU and UE battle at 3:30 PM.
In the lone women's match of the afternoon, Ateneo and UST meet for the second time this season.
After a strong 2-0 start, the Lady Eagles have since dropped their last three and are now looking to get back on track as the season heads to the final stretch.
UST on the other hand, will try to tighten their grasp on the second seed, and another win over Ateneo could help secure a postseason spot.
Ateneo and UST hit the pitch at 1:30 PM.
