FEU seeks to halt skid, UE out to score an upset
Far Eastern University face a must-win situation in a rematch against University of the East to keep their Final Four hopes alive.

Far Eastern University hopes to arrest an alarming two-game slump and keep its Final Four hopes alive against University of the East Wednesday in the 79th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Game time is at 2:00 p.m. and will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166 and via livestream.

The Lady Tamaraws are in a dangerous position with the race for the last two Final Four berths already in its crucial stage. FEU dropped a couple of heartbreaking games, losing in five sets against semis-bound Ateneo de Manila and a 25-17, 17-25, 24-26, 21-25, decision against University of Sto. Tomas last Saturday.

With a 5-6 win-loss record at sixth spot, the Lady Tams need to sweep all of its remaining elims outings for a chance to join league-leading Ateneo de Manila (10-2) and defending champion De La Salle University (9-2) in the next round.

Bernadeth Pons, Remy Palma, Toni Basas and Jerrili Malabanan must bring their A-game to make a repeat of FEU’s 25-18, 25-22, 25-27, 25-11 first round victory over the also-ran Lady Warriors.

With nothing to lose after bowing out of semis contention, UE can play the spoiler’s role and put the Lady Tams on the brink of taking an early vacation.

The Lady Warriors are at seventh spot with a 1-10 record and lost all of its first four second round outings.

UE dropped a straight sets, 16-25, 15-25, 9-25, duel against the Lady Spikers last Saturday.
