Title-holder De La Salle University faces listless Adamson for the solo lead.
Assured of a Final Four berth armed with a twice-to-beat advantage, defending champion De La Salle University shoots for the solo lead against also-ran Adamson University Saturday in the 79th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Lady Spikers are yet to lose a match in the second round of eliminations and are looking to use the 2:00 p.m. joust as a warmup for their marquee end of elimination match against Ateneo de Manila on April 8. DLSU and Atenep share the top spot with identical 10-2 win-loss records.
The match will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166 and via livestream.
After closing the first round with a sorry four-set loss against the Lady Eagles, the Taft-based squad are on a five-game roll including a 25-23, 25-22, 25-21, triumph over University of Sto. Tomas last Wednesday.
DLSU top hitter Kim Dy, who suffered a minor left ankle sprain in their last outing, is expected to suit up to help the cause with Season 78 Best Blocker Majoy Baron, veteran setter Kim Dy, Ernestine Tiamzon and top libero Dawn Macandili.
Meanwhile, the Lady Falcons remain winless in 12 games and could be heading into another heartache if the wards of coach Air Padda won’t get their acts together.
Adamson is on a 19-game losing streak since last season.
Skipper Jema Galanza is expected to see action after skipping the Lady Falcons’ 13-25, 13-25, 11-25, loss to Ateneo last Sunday.
