Ateneo de Manila University maximized its chance to give their key players some rest before the Lady Eagles’ marquee match against archrival defending champion De La Salle University on April 8 at the close of the 79th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament eliminations.
Head coach Tai Bundit decided to rest top hitter Jho Maraguinot in the Lady Eagles cakewalk, 25-18, 25-12, 25-10, victory over also-ran University of the East Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
But Ateneo officials clarified that Maraguinot wasn’t nursing any major injury.
The open spiker was informed even before the match that she won’t see action in the game. Other the Lady Eagles took care of business to put Ateneo back on top for a share of the lead with the Lady Spikers.
I’m ready to play,” said Maraguinot, who’s averaging 12.1 points per game.
The third year Alitagtag, Batangas native is expected to suit up against DLSU in a match that will determine which team will take the no. 1 seed in the Final Four.
“I guess I’m playing naman,” said Maraguinot.
