Fauzi Ismail dropped 20 points to lead National University to its 11th straight victory.
National University stretched its winning romp to 11th straight in a walk in the park, 25-15, 25-15, 25-18, win over University of the East Sunday in a match that served as a warmup for the Bulldogs' rematch against unbeaten title-holder Ateneo de Manila next week.
Fauzi Ismail was on fire the whole match with 20 points coming off 15 attacks, three aces and a pair of kill blocks to help the Bulldogs improve their record to 12-1 in the 79th UAAP men’s volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena.
James Natividad and Bryan Bagunas combined for 16 markers for NU, which built a huge momentum heading into its marquee match against Ateneo (13-0).
The semis-bound teams and twice-to-beat advantage holders Bulldogs and Blue Eagles clash on April 8 in a match that will determine if there will be a stepladder semifinals or the usual Final Four format.
NU sent UE to its fifth straight loss as the Red Warriors slid back to 1-12 record at the cellar.
Noel Alba finished with nine points while Clifford Inoferio and Geric Ortega combined for eight markers for UE.
