Ismail powers Bulldogs to 11th straight win
Fauzi Ismail dropped 20 points to lead National University to its 11th straight victory.

National University stretched its winning romp to 11th straight in a walk in the park, 25-15, 25-15, 25-18, win over University of the East Sunday in a match that served as a warmup for the Bulldogs' rematch against unbeaten title-holder Ateneo de Manila next week.

Fauzi Ismail was on fire the whole match with 20 points coming off 15 attacks, three aces and a pair of kill blocks to help the Bulldogs improve their record to 12-1 in the 79th UAAP men’s volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena.

James Natividad and Bryan Bagunas combined for 16 markers for NU, which built a huge momentum heading into its marquee match against Ateneo (13-0).

The semis-bound teams and twice-to-beat advantage holders Bulldogs and Blue Eagles clash on April 8 in a match that will determine if there will be a stepladder semifinals or the usual Final Four format.

NU sent UE to its fifth straight loss as the Red Warriors slid back to 1-12 record at the cellar.

Noel Alba finished with nine points while Clifford Inoferio and Geric Ortega combined for eight markers for UE.
