De La Salle University defeated its last assignment University of the East and closed its 79th UAAP men's volleyball tournament on a high note.
De La Salle University ended its campaign in the 79th UAAP men’s volleyball tournament on a high note after making a quick work of University of the East, 25-20, 25-16, 25-14, Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Green Spikers banked on Geraint Bacon and John Delos Reyes to close its season with a 5-9 win-loss record tied with Adamson University and University of the Philippines at fifth to seventh.
Bacon scored 11 points while Delos Reyes scored eight for the Taft-based squad, which handed the Red Warriors their fifth straight defeat.
UE exited with another losing season after a disappointing 1-13 finish. The only shining moment that the Red Warriors achieved this year that they can look back was when they ended a 35-game losing slump with a hard-earned five-set victory over Adamson last March 11 at the start of the second round.
Clifford Inoferio and Alven Aljas finished with six points each for UE, which lost its top hitter and Season 77 rookie of the year Edward Camposano to a knee injury midway in the second round.
