Still undecided po -- Jaja Santiago is still uncertain if she'll return for her final playing year
National University could lose its biggest star next season.
Middle Jaja Santiago’s return is still up in the air.
The Lady Bulldogs for the second straight season fell short of advancing in the Final Four after absorbing a season-ending 25-20, 25-19, 22-25, 21-25, 12-15, loss Saturday at the hands of University of Sto. Tomas in the 79th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament.
The 6-foot-5 Santiago, who was drowning in tears after another disappointing season, revealed that she hasn’t decided yet if she’ll play her fifth year.
“Still undecided po,” said the 21-year-old player. “Hindi pa po talaga ako nakaka-decide.”
Santiago finished closed her fourth season with 30 points coming off 25 attacks, four aces and a kill block. She averaged in double digits and was the 11-man Lady Bulldogs’ leading scorer this season.
But her efforts came into naught after another mid-season collapse of NU where they sealed their campaign with a 7-7 win-loss slate – the same finish they had last season.
Head coach Roger Gorayeb moments after their last game tendered his courtesy resignation.
Santiago now sets her focus on training with the Foton Tornadoes for their campaign in the Philippine Superliga and in her participation in the national pool where members of the national team that will see action in the Asian Women’s Senior Championship and the 29th Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur will be selected.
