Graduating FEU Tamaraw Paolo Bugas hopes to be able to help his team to the top of the mountain one more time.
While the latter part of the UAAP Season79 men's football season was a bit rough for the Far Eastern University Tamaraws, they did enough to lock-up a spot in the semifinals, which can be considered a goal achieved, especially coming from last season where-in they didn't crack the top four.
"Yung UAAP run namin last year nakaka-disappoint, kasi hindi kami nakapasok sa Final four after ng dalawang championship." said senior Paolo Bugas.
"Ngayon naman, medyo nag-sstruggle kami sa finishing namin, pero at least na-complete namin yung goal namin na makapasok sa final four." said the graduating midfielder.
The Tamaraws locked up a post-season berth after defeating Adamson 5-1 last April 6.
Already with one of their goals for this season in the bag, FEU now focuses on their biggest goal, and that's the UAAP championship.
"Yung goal talaga namin makuha yung championship. Hindi lang naman kami yung may gusto nun, syempre yung iba pang teams din, so ayun, gagawin namin yung best namin, kasama yung co-seniors ko. "
Should the Tamaraws go all the way this season, it will be their fifth men's football championship, and Bugas' third in five years with the team. Definitely the swan song that the Nabunturan native is looking for.
"Para sa akin, kasi, good exit lang."
The Tamaraws' path to the championship won't be a walk in the park however, as they're likely to face defending champions University of the Philippines in the semifinals. Their first round meeting ended in a 0-0 draw, while their second round meeting is scheduled for April 22nd.
