Far Eastern University and University of Sto. Tomas face off one last time to determine which team will advance in the next round of the stepladder semifinals.
Far Eastern University and University of Sto. Tomas clash Wednesday in a no tomorrow 79th UAAP men’s volleyball stepladder showdown at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Game time is at 2:00 p.m. and will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166 and via livestream.
The Tamaraws swept the Tigers in their elimination round head-to-head including a quick 25-23, 25-18, 25-18 victory in a warm-up to the semis last April 8.
But FEU’s wins in the elims won’t matter when they enter the court with much at stake in a winner-take-all collision.
The Tams closed the elims with an 8-6 card to return in the Final Four after missing the cut last year due to a late second round collapse. The Tigers also made a return stint in the semis after a one-year absence, finishing with a 6-8 record.
The winner of the match will take on the twice-to-beat National University on Sunday in the last phase of the stepladder semis for the right to challenge the three-peat seeking Ateneo de Manila in the best-of-three Finals.
The Marck Espejo-led Ateneo became the first team to sweep the eliminations since 2009, going undefeated in 14 matches to advance outright in the best-of-three Finals.
