Coach Kung Fu proud of Tigresses' effort in Season 79

While it ended after a four-set loss at the hands of defending champions De La Salle University, Saturday afternoon, the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses did something that they had not done since UAAP Season 74, and that's compete in the Final Four of the UAAP women's volleyball tournament.

After years of coming up short, UST finally broke through in Season 79, and that in itself is something that the Espanya-based team should be proud of.

Head coach Kung Fu Reyes certainly is.

Reyes said following their loss to DLSU, Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum.

UST found out the hard way that final four volleyball is a whole different animal, but Reyes hopes that it becomes a lesson for his girls for the future.

"Hopefully by next year, maging aral ito sa amin na pagpasok ng Final 4, iba naman ang usapan."

After finally getting back into the post season, Reyes and the Tigresses now have something to build on next season, and they'll be setting their sights even higher this time around.

"Syempre, hindi naman kami titigil doon. Noong nasa No. 6 nga kami, nagpursige kami, talagang pinaghirapan namin.

"We had a good run this season but we came short," Reyes added. Hopefully Finals. Kung magcha-champion kami, then additional blessing for us"

Reyes and the UST Tigresses will definitely be a team to watch next season, with the likes of Cherry Rondina and EJ Laure set to return. A better finish in Season 80 is definitely within reach for the girls in black and gold.
