"This is Finals eh. Expected na lalaban parehong team. So what we can do is move on from this and then focus on the next one." - Jia Morado
Ateneo team captain Jia Morado has been through her share of ups and downs in her UAAP career. From back-to-back titles in her first two seasons, to coming up short against rivals De La Salle University in the finals last season, the fourth-year setter is one of Ateneo's leaders this season, and knows better than to get rattled after a setback.
Even if it's the first game of the Finals.
Talking to the media following their four-set loss to DLSU in game one of the finals, Tuesday, Morado shared what she thought went wrong and how they're handling the situation.
"I think we just made more errors than we should have, that's all." said Morado. "But then we know what to work on in training naman. It's not something that we're super worried about because we know what we have to work on."
Morado also touched on how the Lady Eagle locker room was, given that this was the first time this season that they were on the losing end of an Ateneo-De La Salle scorecard.
"After the game naman no one seemed down about it and that's a good thing, pagdating ng dugout we were pretty optimistic naman. No one was dragged down by this loss."
Much like teammate Bea De Leon, Morado isn't about to give up, especially since it's just the first game of a best of three series.
"Bilog naman yung bola."
"This is Finals eh. Expected na lalaban parehong team. So what we can do is move on from this and then focus on the next one." Morado added.
Ateneo and La Salle face off for game two of the Season 79 finals on Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum.
