It's not over, it's game one, It's best of three. On Saturday, we'll meet again and we'll get there." - Bea De Leon
"We lost. Nothing much, definitely came down to our errors."
Ateneo de Manila middle blocker Bea De Leon spoke to the media following their loss in game one of the UAAP Season 79 women's volleyball finals to defending champions De La Salle University.
"It was good start for us but then La Salle started coming. Marami kaming kulang, it was on us."
While in a generally somber mood, the third-year Lady Eagle wasn't too distraught after the loss, and instead, was very confident that they would do much better in game two on Saturday.
"We're a bit down but we're still hopeful. It's not over, it's just game one. We know we can do it with the past games with La Salle so definitely we'll come back to training tomorrow, work a lot harder and on Saturday babawi kami."
During the elimination round, the Lady Eagles lorded over their Taft-based rivals, taking both matches against the Lady Spikers convincingly, so many would say that the timing of Ateneo's loss to DLSU - in the finals - less than favorable, to say the least.
De Leon would beg to differ, however.
"It's not the worst possible time. We didn't lose the championship, that's the worst possible time."
"The mantra of this team is 'Heartstrong' and we'll live up to that name. It's not over, it's game one, It's best of three. On Saturday, we'll meet again and we'll get there." De Leon continued, with the utmost confidence.
Ateneo and La Salle meet again for game two of the Season 79 finals on Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum.
