BACK ONCE AGAIN. La Salle Dance Company-Street is now even with UP Street Dance Clubs for most champiponships with three each.
Even before the announcement of winners in the UAAP 79 Streetdance Competition, La Salle Dance Company was already dancing in celebration.
Turns out, LSDC had more than enough reason to be doing so as it found itself the best of the rest on Saturday in University of Sto. Tomas’ Plaza Mayor.
Spurred by a routine based on dance battles onto a score of 89, De La Salle University’s representatives captured the title they last had in 2012. “It’s a beautiful exit for us seniors,” Paolo Deluria, one of their leaders, expressed.
The Taft-based team topped the first two editions of the competition, but had to settle for second and third-place finishes in the last three seasons.
Wowing the crowd and impressing the judges with their moves, however, LSDC finally took back the crown while also dethroning three-peat champion University of the Philippines Street Dance Club. “For the past four years, I’ve been competing. This year, buti nabiyayaan na ni Lord,” Deluria said.
During the announcement of winners, the green and white side was still dancing on the stage even as their competitors were waiting with bated breath.
Once they were revealed as the new champions, LSDC didn’t hold back any longer and jumped all around the stage. “Sobrang dami naming pinagdaanan. Sobrang fulfilling to be able to show what we’ve been preparing,” Deluria said.
They will also be rewarded with PhP 70, 000 for their win.
UP Street settled for a second-place finish this time around with a final tally of 88.75. They will also take home PhP 45, 000.
Third-place and a cash prize of PhP 30, 000 went to UST Prime who scored 85.75.
