NEXT. Host school FEU is looking forward to introducing several innovations for the UAAP's landmark 80th season.
In just a few months, the UAAP will officially be opening its landmark 80th season.
And in gearing up for that momentous occasion, at present, the country’s premier collegiate league has one thing on its mind.
“We want to be fan-friendly and interactive,” Anton Montinola, board member of host school Far Eastern University, shared following the turnover of hosting duties last Saturday.
There, the host school revealed a tentative logo and theme for Season 80.
Montinola then went on to say that FEU and the rest of the member-schools will see to it that their students and fans alike will be able go for great in enjoying all the games. “We want to use only the best venues for all sports,” he said.
Also in that light, the board member from the Morayta-based school said they are mulling scheduling beach volleyball and football games in the evening, so as to avoid extreme heat during the day.
Most interesting of all, however, is an idea to hold an All-Star Game for women’s volleyball. “We’re thinking of doing a fan weekend in MOA and during that weekend, maybe having an All-Star Game in women’s volleyball,” he shared.
Montinola also mentioned a 3X3 basketball tournament, a drumline competition, and a cheerdance competition in the Juniors division as other possible innovations for the upcoming season.
