With a new UAAP season comes new beginnings, new stories, and of course, new faces.
Those new faces include this season's batch of new courtside reporters who have been given the opportunity to serve as the link between their respective schools and the fans.
This UAAP Season 80, we welcome on board eight new courtside reporters who will be patrolling the sidelines and getting the latest scoop on your favorite UAAP teams!
Leading the courtside charge for FEU this season will be Sydney Crespo!
For the 19-year old AB Communications major, the courtside dream began even before she set foot in FEU. As a high school student in University of Santo Tomas, Syd looked up to former Growling Tigers correspondent Tina Marasigan.
"Ever since I was in high school, I wanted to be like Tina Marasigan, who was our courtside reporter back then, nung nasa UST pa ako. Now, I’m here, and I’m excited."
Now in her third year the school that banners the Green and Gold, Syd will be living out her long-time dream as the Tamaraws' new sideline storyteller.
"Parang hindi ako maka-paniwala, but I think I did every thing that I can. I want to make my school proud din also, so I’m really excited na I’m here, and of course, it’s also a job, so I have to do what is asked from me."
Aside from entering a whole new field, Syd will also be facing the pressures of reporting for the season's hosts, but believes that it'll be a good learning experience.
As for what she can bring to the table as the new face patrolling FEU's sidelines, Syd says that she wants to be both fun and effective in her new role.
"I want to be a fun and articulate courtside reporter for FEU. I have to be approachable, and at the same time I have to do my work properly."
