TAKE IT EASY. Paul Desiderio is still recovering from a knee injury that had been kept under wraps.
No news came out, but apparently, Paul Desiderio suffered a meniscus tear in his right knee.
And two months later, University of the Philippines’ main man is still recovering.
“Ngayon, nasa 85 percent pa lang ako kasi galing akong injury,” Desiderio shared. “Nagdadahan-dahan pa ako. Ayokong biglain yung sarili ko kasi tuhod yung injury e.”
The Mythical Team member got injured during a team practice last June.
He also admitted that his non-stop stints from last season’s UAAP to the PBA D-League to the Filoil Preseason and now back to the UAAP may have factored into his injury. “Siguro, napagod na nga yung tuhod ko, napagod na rin yung katawan ko,” he said.
And until now, Desiderio said he is still feeling pain. “Mga out of 10, nasa five o four yung pain,” he said.
He was quick to add, however, “Pero tinitiis ko pa rin kasi kailangan e.”
As it turns out, not even a knee injury could stop State U’s captain in leading his team in their fight to end their playoff drought. “As captain kasi, magandang ipakita ko sa mga teammate ko na laban lang nang aban para gayahin nila ako. Sabi nga ni coach, dapat ma-lead ko yung team,” he said.
Good thing then that Desiderio will now be flanked by a more talented crew that includes holdovers Diego Dario, Javi Gomez de Liano, and Noah Webb together with newcomers Juan Gomez de Liano, Jun Manzo, and Ibrahim Quattara. “Yun nga e, mukhang kakayanin talaga namin. Sana magawa nga namin,” he expressed.
