Montalbo questionable for DLSU’s season-opener against FEU
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED. DLSU will have to start its title defense without both Kib Montalbo and Ben Mbala.

Already without Ben Mbala, De La Salle University may also be missing Kib Montalbo as it starts its title defense in the UAAP 80 Men’s Basketball Tournament.

The Green Archers’ captain has been ruled questionable for their first matchup in the season against new-day rival Far Eastern University.

That means that most likely, Montalbo will be sitting out on Sunday at the MOA Arena.

Earlier in the week, the graduating guard was hospitalized due to an undisclosed illness and is now still in the process of recovery.

Montalbo’s absence will entail more minutes for sophomores Brent Paraiso and Ricci Rivero as well as rookies Gabe Capacio and Josh Gonzales.

Still, the defending champions remain confident even though they will be taking on the determined Tamaraws. “Kulang kami, pero kayang-kaya pa rin,” Andrei Caracut said.

If the team captain will be out for the season-opener, he will be joining Mbala who will be missing the first two games of the tournament.

Last season’s MVP is fulfilling his duties for the Cameroonian national team.

The UAAP goes for great in Season 80 starting on Saturday at the MOA Arena.

Then on Sunday, DLSU and FEU once again take the floor up against each other.
