UST, Adamson win opening day assignments

University of Sto. Tomas and Adamson University opened their respective campaigns in the 80th UAAP girls volleyball on a high note Saturday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.   

Last year’s runner-up Junior Tigresses demolished the University of the Philippines Integrated School, 25-14, 25-10, 25-8, as they bid to end a four-year title drought.

Joining UST, which was led by Eya Laure, in the opening day winners’ list are the Baby Lady Falcons, who recovered from a set down to turn back University of the East, 21-25, 25-15, 25-22, 25-20.

Meanwhile, three-peat-seeking National University begins its boys division campaign on Sunday against UE at 12:00 noon.

In other matches, Ateneo de Manila University and Adamson face off in the curtain-raiser at 10:00 a.m., De La Salle University-Zobel takes on UP at 2:00 p.m. while Far Eastern University and last year’s runner-up UST clash at 4:00 p.m.
