Reigning champion De La Salle University posts its fourth straight win in as many games in women's table tennis.

Defending three-time champion De La Salle University and University of Sto. Tomas are unbeaten in four women's contests, while three teams are tied for the men's lead after the opening weekend of the 80th UAAP table tennis tournament at the UP CHK Gym.

The Lady Archers went through the wringer before edging Far Eastern University, 3-1, and prevailed over University of the Philippines, 3-0, Adamson University, 3-0, and National University, 3-1.

Not to be outdone are the Tigresses, last year's runner-up, who defeated the Tamaraws, 3-1, the Lady Maroons, 3-1, the Lady Bulldogs, 3-0, and the Lady Warriors, 3-0.

In the men's division, titleholder UST, NU and surprising Adamson University are locked in a three-way logjam in first place at 3-1.

The Growling Tigers lost their opener to the Bulldogs, 0-3, before winning against UE, 3-0, UP, 3-0, and the Tamaraws, 3-1.

NU scored three wins against UST, De La Salle, 3-2, and Ateneo, 3-1, while its lone defeat came from the Falcons, 2-3.

Adamson University, seventh place last season, beat the Green Archers, 3-1, the Bulldogs, 3-2, and FEU, 3-0, but the Falcons bowed to the Fighting Maroons, 0-3.

Action resumes Thursday with the 8:00 a.m. morning session and 1:00 p.m. afternoon matches at the Diliman venue.
