MINUS. Another point guard will be starting for DLSU when it takes on UST.
De La Salle University will be missing the services of point guard Aljun Melecio when it wages war against University of Sto. Tomas on Saturday.
Melecio has been battling an illness and has been confined in the hospital for the past two days. “’Di ako makakalaro tomorrow,” he sadly shared with reporters on Friday.
He then continued, “Meron akong on and off high fever tapos intense headache.”
There is no timetable for his return, but he is assuring the faithful over at Taft Avenue that he is doing fine. “But I’ll be okay,” he expressed.
The most recent Rookie of the Year has been averaging 14 points, 3.3 assists, three rebounds, and 1.8 steals through four games in the tournament.
However, in the last two games, he, Kib Montalbo, and Ricci Rivero have struggled and have only combined for averages of 17.5 points on 7-for-26 shooting to go along with 8.5 turnovers.
His responsibilities will likely shift to backcourt-mates Andrei Caracut and Montalbo as well as reserves like Jollo Go and Ramil Tero.
Coming off their first loss in the season, the Green Archers want nothing more than to vent their ire on somebody when they take to the Araneta Coliseum court anew.
