STRONG START. Adamson's 11-0 start was more than enough for its first winning streak in the tournament.

Adamson University is finally on a winning streak in the 80th Season of the UAAP Men’s Basketball Tournament.

Going on an 11-0 blitz to begin the game, the Soaring Falcons made quick work of University of the East, 79-60, on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.

Jonathan Espeleta’s triple punctuated the strong start at the offensive end for Franz Pumaren’s wards.

At the other end, it wasn’t until the 5:55 mark of the first quarter that they allowed a make for their opponents.

And it was all easy from there en route to Adamson’s first back-to-back wins in the tournament. “This is the first time in the season that we’re above .500. Hopefully, this can help us in our coming games,” the head coach said.

Papi Sarr continued to show no ill effects from the groin injury he had early in the season and pounded in 15 points, 16 rebounds, and two steals.

Sean Manganti also turned in his best outing of the season with 10 markers and eight boards.

At 3-2, the Soaring Falcons are now tied for fourth-place with the University of the Philippines.

The two teams will fight over solo fourth on Wednesday still at the same venue. “It’s going to be a brutal week for us because we’ll be playing three games. All of them will be crucial for us to still end the first round abocve .500,” Pumaren said.

For the Red Warriors, Mark Olayon and Alvin Pasaol topped the scoring column with 16 and 15 points, respectively.

Having another listless showing, however, they remain winless in five games.
