RECORDS ARE MEANT TO BE BROKEN. Jeff Napa's 15-year-old league-best scoring output has just fallen.
Jeff Napa scored 43 points for National University on August 22, 2002.
For 15 years that was the highest scoring output by a single player in a single game in the UAAP.
That was until October 4, 2017.
And there, Alvin Pasaol scored 49 points in ultra-efficient 20-for-30 shooting – setting the new standard for scoring in the modern era.
While his personal best was topped, Napa said he was nothing but glad for Pasaol. “I’m happy for him, pero sana nanalo,” he shared.
Pasaol and University of the East lost to De La Salle University, 100-106, while Napa and National University triumphed over Adamson University, 98-92.
Still, the now Colegio de San Juan de Letran head coach said the Red Warrior will only get more motivation from this. As he put it, “Great motivation yan para sa kanya para lalo siyang magpursigi pa sa kanyang career at matulungan yung team niya.”
For his part, Pasaol said he will just keep working from here. “Siguro, nilaro ko lang yung talagang best ko na hinihindi ni manong sa akin na maglaro ako ng sarili ko. Kaya itutuloy ko lang yun,” he said.
