Defending three-time champion National University completed another 14-game elimination round sweep with a 63-50 conquest of University of the East in the UAAP Season 80 Women’s Basketball Tournament on Saturday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

The Lady Bulldogs, 62-0 since 2014, claimed their fifth successive title round appearance and moved two wins away of bagging a four-peat.

Ria Nabalan came through with 14 points, five rebounds and three assists while Congo's Rhena Itesi and Jack Danielle Animam took care of boards for NU, combining for 41 rebounds.

Trixie Antiquiera and Je Anne Camelo each had 11 points while Janet Sison added 10 markers for the Lady Bulldogs.

The Lady Warriors, who were paced by Ruthlaine Tacula's 14 points, could only score four points in the third period which spelled their doom.

Despite the loss, UE (11-3) will enter the stepladder semifinals armed with a twice-to-beat advantage for finishing number two in the eliminations.

Over at the Araneta Coliseum, Far Eastern University, priming up for its first stepladder duel with University of Sto. Tomas, beat Ateneo, 69-60, to end the elimination round with a three-game winning streak.

The Lady Tamaraws, who wound up with a 8-6 card, drew 16 points from Isabel Balleser and 11 points from Precious Arellado.

In a duel of already eliminated teams, De La Salle University nipped winless University of the Philippines, 75-72, to finish its season at 3-11 in seventh place.
