UAAP By the Numbers: NO SWEEP!

One sweep was avoided this past weekend thanks to Ricci Rivero.
The regular season is over and done with but before we go to the Final Four, let's relive some of the numbers that defined the final weekend of UAAP Season 80 with eight teams still playing.
Ladies and gentlemen, By the Numbers is back.
Number of days in between UST wins in the UAAP.
It took more than a year for the Growling Tigers to follow up on their 73-69 victory over the NU Bulldogs back in October 2016, finally beating the UE Red Warriors, 88-85, to end 2017.
Number of straight losses UST had to endure during that 393 days.
The Tigers were in danger of submitting their first winless season in the UAAP ever. Fortunately, UST pulled through in the clutch to narrowly-avoid making sad history.
Total winnng margin by UST in UAAP Season 80. Total losing margin? 180 points.
It was not a good season for the Growling Tigers. But hey, at least they ended it on a high note.
Better late than never, right?
Number of consecutive seasons where the UAAP Final Four pairings were exactly the same.
In Season 79, no. 1 La Salle took on no. 4 Adamson while no. 2 Ateneo forged a showdown with no. 3 FEU.
In Season 80, no. 1 Ateneo will square off with no. 4 FEU while no. 2 La Salle will be challenged by no. 3 Adamson anew.
The Green Archers and the Blue Eagles both won in Season 79, can they do it again in Season 80?
Straight wins for Ateneo before rival La Salle stopped it Sunday to avoid a sweep and make sure a traditional Final Four takes place.
The Blue Eagles just didn't have enough against the defending UAAP champions, falling short in the end. Man, Ateneo just can't get that clean 14-0 card.
Number of straight points scored by the Green Archers after head coach Aldin Ayo threw his Ralph Lauren jacket on the floor.
Trailing by seven points to Ateneo in the final two minutes and change Sunday, the champs shut down the Blue Eagles and pounded away for the win.
La Salle also erased a 12-point fourth-quarter deficit to stun Ateneo as the Green Archers won seven straight games to sweep round 2 of Season 80.
Number of wins by UP this season, most in 12 years.
The Fighting Maroons finished with the same record back in 2005 and although six wins only marks as one-game improvement from last season, that still counts.
Nowhere to go but UP.
Number of consecutive Final Four appearances for the FEU Tamaraws, the longest active streak in the UAAP.
FEU made the playoffs outright in Season 80 with an even 7-7 record. The Tamaraws missed the Final Four in Season 75 with a 9-5 mark. Crazy right?
