7 foot 1 Kai Sotto just wants to play ball
As a 7'1" slightly older teenager that's still skinny, many are convinced that Kai is indeed the future of Philippine basketball.
Unicorns are rather rare. They're so rare you'll definitely know if you see one.
Kai Sotto? Yeah he's a unicorn. A Filipino unicorn.
Ever since he burst into the scene as a skinny 6'11" teenager, many looked at Kai as the future of Philippine basketball.
As a 7'1" slightly older teenager who is still skinny, many are convinced that Kai is indeed the future of Philippine basketball.
He was UAAP Juniors Rookie of the Year and he was only unleashed in the second round. He then led Batang Gilas to a convincing title win in the 2017 SEABA Championships.
During his first game of his second high school season, the 15-year old scored 24 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, and blocked seven shots in 23 minutes off the bench for the Ateneo Blue Eaglets in their win over the Adamson Baby Falcons.
The kid is legit.
And with his height and potential plus the actual results he's putting up as of right now, you can't blame no one if they're ready to crown 15-year-old Kai Sotto as the savior of Philippine basketball.
That's a lot of pressure for a skinny teenager but he does not mind.
"Hindi naman masyado," Kai told ABS-CBN Sports when asked if he's bothered with all the hype and expectations surrounding him.
Kai, who undoubtledy has a bright future ahead of him, just wants to play ball.
"Sabi nga ng tatay ko, maglaro lang ako kung ano nilalaro ko," he said.
"Normal pa rin. Syempre stay humble at gawin ko lang ginagawa ko," Kai added.
