Adamson’s Ahanmisi: ‘Kib’s gonna do what he’s gonna do’
LOCKED DOWN. Jerrick Ahanmisi said he welcomed the challenge put up by defensive specialist Kib Montalbo.

For Adamson University sharpshooter Jerrick Ahanmisi, it wasn’t up to him if De La Salle University’s Kib Montalbo defense was overkill.

“I don’t know. That’s all up to the referees and the referees didn’t see that it was dirty,” he said.

Montalbo was right in the face of Ahanmisi for majority of the matchup between their teams last Saturday – to the point that it was almost as if the two were nose-to-nose.

For the Soaring Falcon, credit should be given to the effort of the Green Archer. “He’s a good defender. He tries to get in your mind a lot, he tries to get in your face,” he said.

At the same time, however, the sophomore sniper said he wasn’t just going to roll over. “But I tried to show that I’m not gonna back down,” he said.

As it turns out, Jerrick learned that lesson from his kuya Maverick who is a professional player for Rain or Shine.

The elder Ahanmisi tweeted his thoughts on Montalbo right after the game, half-serious and half-joking, perhaps:

For Adamson’s main man, however, his big brother was only saying he already knew what he had to do. “Everything he says it’s true. Kib’s gonna do what he’s gonna do, but my brother’s not gonna baby me,” he shared.

He then continued, “(My brother) knows that’s what’s gonna happen. He’s just gonna keep telling me to don’t back down from anybody.”

Indeed, Jerrick kept coming even though he was limited to just three points in the payoff period. “I just kept battling, but unfortunately, my shots just weren’t falling,” he expressed.
