Tournament newcomers National University score back to back wins in UAAP Season 80 juniors football
FAR EASTERN University-Diliman opened its bid for a eighth consecutive crown with a 6-1 victory over Ateneo yesterday in the UAAP Season 80 juniors football tournament at the PFF National Training Centre inside the San Lazaro Leisure Park in Carmona, Cavite.
The Baby Tamaraws scored twice in the first half and added four more after the restart in a tremendous display of firepower making them as heavy favorites to win the crown.
Tournament newcomer National University posted its second straight victory with a 6-1 rout of University of Santo Tomas in the day's other match.
The Bullpups now sit on the top of the table with a maximum of six points, while the Tiger Cubs failed to follow up their 2-1 season-opening victory over the Blue Eaglets to remain at three points.
Ateneo, meanwhile, suffered its second successive loss and is still without a point.
Action shifts to the Rizal Memorial Stadium on Thursday, with UST taking on De La Salle-Zobel at 8 a.m., followed by the much-anticipated NU-FEU clash at 3 p.m.
