Antiquiera's shooting display surprises even her head coach
Trixie Antiquiera had her second 30-point outing of the season, and it could have not come at a better time than Game 1 of the UAAP Season 80 Women's Basketball Finals.

Despite the crowning of a new MVP in Jack Danielle Animam, fifth-year guard Trixie Antiquiera took the streaking NU Lady Bulldogs on her back and scorched hot in their 89-61 win against the UE Lady Warriors in Game 1 of the UAAP Season 80 Women's Basketball Finals.

Even her coach Pat Aquino was very much surprised with her shooting display, saying that he did not expect a shooting clinic with the guard.

"It was a good win. Again, just happy for the girls, especially Trixie [Antiquiera]. Her last playing year and having the grand time of having the three-point [barrage]. Hindi ko naman ineexpect, at least lumabas ngayon."

Antiquiera scored 30 points on a 7/11 shooting display from three, her second 30-point outing this season, with the first against the UST Tigresses.

Her scintillating display was evident from the beginning as she nailed four triples in the first half for 19 points.

At one point, she even equaled UE's scoring output with 27 points after drilling a long two, registering the first eight points for NU in the third quarter, as the Lady Bulldogs went ahead 51-27.

"Masaya kasi lahat ng extra shooting ko after ng practice, yun naman nagbunga. Atsaka sabi ng coaches ko, magtiwala sa sarili ko," Antiquiera said after the game.

The MVP Animam was all-praises for Antiquiera and her teammates, with Animam saying that she would not have won the award if it weren't for their teamwork.

"Hindi ko ineexpect. Lahat kami star, kasi kung hindi dahil sa kanila, hindi ako makakarating sa posisyon ko ngayon, winning that MVP, without my coaches, siguro wala ito sa akin, syempre kasi naging MVP ako, kudos to my teammates, sila ang MVP talaga."

As NU is on the cusp of their fourth straight plum, the graduating Antiquiera vows to give it her all in what could be her final game donning the NU uniform.

"Sa last season, pinopromise ko ang best ko. All-out na ito. Bigay ko na lahat ng kya kong ibigay."
