Back-to-back MVP Ben Mbala is now PhP 100, 000, and PhP 20,000 worth of gasoline, richer
For the second straight season, Ben Mbala is, far and away, the top individual player in the UAAP.
With a massive margin on his closest competitor, Mbala, De La Salle University’s main man, left no doubt that he is the MVP in the 80th Season Men’s Basketball Tournament.
Mbala averaged 26 points in 52 percent shooting, 13.1 rebounds, 2.5 blocks, 1.3 assists, and 1.3 steals all while powering the Green Archers to a 12-2 finish in the elimination round and then back onto the Finals.
In all, those combined for 96.58 SPs – 30 better than his closest competitor.
Unlike a year ago, however, Mbala, who hails from Cameroon, will take home the most cash winnings.
Along with the MVP, he was also recognized as the PS Bankable Player of the Season for a cash prize of PhP 100, 000 as well as the Shell V-Power Most Efficient Player of the Season for a prize of PhP 20, 000 worth of gasoline.
In all, that’s PhP 120, 000 in winnings.
Last season, Ateneo de Manila University’s Isaac Go beat out Mbala in terms of cash prizes.
The former was rewarded PhP 150, 000 for being the Appeton Most Improved Player of the Season as compared to the latter’s PhP 125, 000 cash prize.
