UAAP Finals By the Numbers: Champion comeback
De La Salle saved its season and its title Wednesday, staging a comeback for the ages to beat sworn rival Ateneo in Game 2 of the UAAP Season 80 Finals.

You can never question the heart of a champion.

De La Salle University saved its season and its title Wednesday, staging a comeback for the ages to beat sworn rival Ateneo in Game 2 of the UAAP Season 80 Finals.

Now, the no. 1 rivalry in Philippine collegiate sports is headed to a deciding Game 3. It seems right that way and we have the numbers for you.

Let's go.

21

Number of points the Green Archers had to overcome in Game 2 in order to save their title defense.

Ateneo was up, 49-28, with 3:23 to go in the first half before La Salle finally woke up and took charge of the game.

30

Number of points the Green Archers made up since the Blue Eagles' 21-point advantage.

From the 3:23 mark of the second quarter until the end of the third period, La Salle went on an incredible 40-10 run to turn that 28-49 deficit into a 68-59 lead.

20

Number of points for two-time MVP Ben Mbala in Game 2 of the UAAP Season 80 Finals.

He had a career-low eight points in Game 1. Big bounce back effort from Big Ben.

18

Number of points for Mythical 5 team member Ricci Rivero.

He had four fouls and was already crying out of frustration in the first half. Big bounce back effort from Ricci.

32

Number of points scored by the Blue Eagles in the first quarter of Game 2, landing an early haymaker on the defending champions.

The Blue Eagles couldn't miss in that sensational opening period but unfortunately for Ateneo, La Salle beat the 10-count and wound up winning by seven to force a deciding Game 3.

5

Number of three points shots made by Ateneo in that first quarter.

The rest of the way? Only two.

9

Number of wins by La Salle at the Big Dome this season in nine games. A perfect record.

Game 3 of the UAAP Finals will be played at the Araneta Coliseum on Sunday. See you there.
