EJ Laure of University of Sto. Tomas will skip UAAP Season 80.
University of Sto. Tomas’ campaign in the 80th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament suffered a major blow with outside hitter EJ Laure reportedly skipping the season due to a lingering injury.
An insider confirmed the report that the Season 77 Rookie of the Year could miss the coming volleyball tournament, which is set to begin on February 4, because of a chronic shoulder injury.
“Most likely she may not play,” said the UST source.
ABS-CBN Sports tried to reach Tigresses head coach Kungfu Reyes but the mentor has yet to grant an interview.
The incoming fourth year player’s absence would add more woes to a squad already missing the services of middle blocker Ria Meneses, who decided to forego her last playing year due to personal reasons.
Sisi Rondina and Dimdim Pacres will take the lead for the Tigresses, who ended a four-year Final Four drought last season.
