NU's Rhayyan Amsali and Ateneo's Kai Sotto will be going at it once again as the fitting ending to the elimination round of the UAAP 80 Juniors Basketball Tournament
The second round of the UAAP 80 Juniors Basketball Tournament will start and end with a bang.
Action resumes in the tournament on January 13 at the Filoil Flying V Centre with second-running Nazareth School of National University battling fourth-running Far Eastern University-Diliman at 9:00 AM.
Following that big-time bout is another crucial contest with league-leading Ateneo de Manila High School waging war against third-running University of Sto. Tomas.
Not much separates those four teams in the standings.
However, it has been the Blue Eaglets who have been running roughshod thus far in the season with a double-digit average winning margin up against all of the Bullpups, the Tiger Cubs, and the Baby Tamaraws.
Of those three, NU seems to be in the best position to challenge Ateneo.
That is exactly why the meeting between those two teams may very well have big-time implications.
The Blue Eaglets and the Bullpups will go at it on February 11 in the last gameday of the tournament at the Blue Eagle Gym in Katipunan, Quezon City.
That matchup tipping off at 3:00 PM may very well be for a season sweep or playoff seeding. What is for sure is that it is a more than possible playoff preview.
Right before that, UST and FEU-Diliman will also be duking it out.
Still in the hunt are 3-4 Adamson High School and 2-5 De La Salle Zobel while needing some sort of miracle to remain in contention are 1-6 University of the Philippines Integrated School and 0-7 University of the East.
Here is the full schedule of the second round.
