Aldin Ayo and UST are yet to have formal talks
Aldin Ayo has confirmed that he is no longer with De La Salle University.
However, the two-time collegiate champion coach said where he ends up next is yet to be determined.
Asked about his reported transfer to University of Sto. Tomas, he answered, “Wala pang formal na usapan. January 5 pa ang balik ko (sa) Manila.”
Late last month, news broke out that Ayo has left DLSU and will be relocating to UST.
This, after Green Archers team management said that it is “firmly behind coach Aldin Ayo and his staff as we start the process of rebuilding for the future.”
Not long after that statement, reports stated that the 40-year-old “had a change of heart” and that led to his departure from Taft Avenue.
According to a source privy to the matter who now feels free to comment, however, Ayo had aproblem with all those statements coming from team management. “Sila (team management) lang gumagawa ng statement, pero walang confirmation yun galing sa kanya,” the source said.
Now, the Sorsogon native may very well be on his way to Espana.
Ayo and the Growling Tigers have been linked as early as the onset of Season 80.
Before finally speaking out today, the last word he had on such link was at the end of the season. “I don’t want to comment on that,” he told reporters then.
In his two-year tenure for the Green Archers, Ayo registered a record of 30-5 in the UAAP, with one championship and one runner-up finish.
