UAAP 80 VOLLEYBALL: Adamson not a Jema Galanza team anymore

Ngayon ang daming bumalik, ang daming dumagdag. Sobrang saya ko, sobrang gaan sa pakiramdam ko na marami kaming gagawa ngayon -- Adamson ace hitter Jema Galanza on having the much-needed support from the rest of the Lady Falcons this season.
Adamson University is not about Jema Galanza anymore.
The return of Mylene Paat and setter Fenela Emnas and the arrival of Chiara Permentilla and transferee Eli Soyud eased the pressure off the graduating open spiker’s shoulder in the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament.
Galanza carried most of the scoring load for the Lady Falcons last year in a disastrous season that saw Adamson end at the bottom with a 1-13 slate.
But all will be different this year.
“Mas magaan na ngayon kasi sabi nga ni coach Air (Padda) kasi last year parang hindi ko alam kung saan ako kukuha ng kasama na tulungan ako,” said Galanza, who averaged 13 points per game.
“Ngayon ang daming bumalik, ang daming dumagdag. Sobrang saya ko, sobrang gaan sa pakiramdam ko na marami kaming gagawa ngayon,” added Galanza, who came off a gruesome ankle injury four months ago during Adamson’s stint in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference.
Second year head coach Air Padda also felt relieved with the added firepower and even talked to Galanza about moving a step back with all the support behind her.
“She’s super receptive (about her role). She wants everyone to shine. She doesn’t want to leave Adamson without something. She gives so much, she really does. And so she knows this year is her shot,” said Padda.
Galanza didn’t hide her excitement for the coming season starting February 3 especially with her last chance to share the collegiate action alongside Paat and Emnas, who skipped Adamson’s campaign last year.
“Sobrang saya ko kasi bumalik si Ate Cha (Mylene) at si Fenela kasi na-miss ko silang kalaro,” she said. “Kasi iba rin ‘yung ambiance ‘pag nandyan sila sa loob ng court and sobrang galing nilang players. Hindi ko nafi-feel na mabigat yung team and talagang malaking tulong nilang dalawa para sa amin.”
