Adamson University and National University clash in their season debut.
Preseason favorite National University and tournament dark horse Adamson University cross paths Saturday in the opening salvo of the 80th UAAP women’s volleyball action at the MOA Arena.
Game time is at 2:00 p.m. and the match will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, LIGA on SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD on SkyCable Channel 183 and via livestream.
Graduating player Jaja Santiago will attempt to deliver the elusive championship to the Lady Bulldogs for the last time.
She stresses that to do that they will need to build an early momentum.
“Importante sa amin na maganda yung start namin and dapat consistent. Dagdagan pa yung mga pagkukulang namin last year,” said the 6-foot-5 versatile hitter who has won numerous titles in the commercial league but is still in search for a UAAP crown.
The Lady Bulldogs will also parade a new head coach in Babes Castillo, who replaced Roger Gorayeb after parting ways with NU following two straight seasons of falling short of advancing in the Final Four.
Back in the fold for the Lady Bulldogs are Aiko Urdas, Risa Sato, Jorelle Singh and setter Jasmine Nabor.
They will face a team hungry to prove that they can contend for a Final Four spot.
The Lady Falcons have a solid lineup this season with the return of setter Fenela Emnas and veteran middle blocker Mylene Paat, who both skipped last season’s contest, and the arrival of new recruits Eli Soyud and head-turner Chiara Permentilla to help outgoing power-hitter Jema Galanza.
Head coach Air Padda now has at her disposal a crew that is out to erase the memory of their eighth place, one-win finish last year.
