Maddie Madayag on loss against FEU: "Nangangapa pa kami as a team"
We're still jelling, okay na yung parang talo kami ngayon kaysa panalo, panalo, panalo tapos biglang matatalo kami -- Maddie Madayag
In her first game as team captain, Maddie Madayag experienced a deflating five-set loss against the FEU Lady Tamaraws, who previously have not won against the Lady Eagles since the second round of Season 75.
The Lady Eagles, who were leading early in the fifth set, 6-1, suddenly committed errors and did not respond well enough to the service aces of Toni Rose Basas. Suddenly, FEU was up 11-9 on last year's number one seed in the eliminations.
"Kagaya ng pinag-usapan namin sa loob, kumakapa pa kami. We're still jelling, okay na yung parang talo kami ngayon kaysa panalo, panalo, panalo tapos biglang matatalo kami," Madayag said after the loss.
Fourth-year player added that Ateneo fought hard but just came up short, owing to the lack of chemistry in their first game.
As the the Lady Eagles will face the NU Lady Bulldogs on Saturday, Madayag mentioned that the team will be studying game film of NU's win over Adamson Saturday, and use the Lady Bulldogs' tactics to Ateneo's advantage.
"Babasahin namin, pag-aaralan namin kung paano namin iblblock, kung pano receives nila, pano yung serves nila."
