UAAP Season 80 Menís Football: Three teams seek back-to-back wins
The UE Red Warriors are one of three teams looking for back-to-back wins in the UAAP Season 80 men's football tournament.
Matches on Thursday (Rizal Memorial Football Stadium)
9:00 AM - Adamson vs. UST (Men’s)
2:00 PM - UP vs. UE (Men’s)
4:00 PM - FEU vs. DLSU (Men’s)
6:30 PM - FEU vs. DLSZ (Juniors Final)
Three teams will try for back-to-back victories when the men’s football tournament of the 80th UAAP season resumes on Thursday, February 8th at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.
In the first match of the day, the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers will try to carry the momentum from their 4-0 win over the Far Eastern University Tamaraws last Sunday when they meet the Adamson Soaring Falcons, who will be making their season debut.
Marvin Bricenio, starred for the Growling Tigers in their season opener, hitting a hat trick to help lead the Espanya-based squad past the Season 79 runners-up.
Also riding high from their opening day wins are the University of the Philippines Fightning Maroons and the University of the East Red Warriors, who’ll be sharing the pitch come Thursday.
The Red Warriors showed flashes of their capabilities towards the end of Season 79, going on a mini-run to end the year, which included a win over would-be champions Ateneo. UE managed to keep their streak alive to kick off Season 80 with a 1-0 win over National University, courtesy of a late conversion from Jasper Absalon.
It was JB Borlongan who played hero for the Fighting Maroons Sunday, as he provide the lone goal that proved to be the difference maker, helping UP take down defending champions Ateneo de Manila.
In the final men’s game of the day, FEU will try to bounce back when they face off against the De La Salle University Green Archers.
Looking to move past the sting of their 4-0 loss to UST on opening day, Rico Andes and the Tams will be looking to give the season-debuting Green Archers a rude welcome.
Thursday will also play host to a UAAP Season 80 Juniors Finals matchup as defending champions FEU try for their eighth straight Juniors title against De La Salle Zobel.
