UAAP VOLLEYBALL: UST keeps hold of early lead

University of Sto. Tomas claimed its second straight victory for a hold of the lead after taking down University of the East, 25-11, 25-21, 20-25, 25-15, Wednesday in the 80th UAAP men’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Arnold Bautista scored 13 points to lead three other Tigers in double-figures. Joshua Umandal and Juren Buro got 12 markers each while Tyrone Carodan has 11 for the Espana-based squad.
Timothy Tajanlangit had a superb outing for UST, tallying 43 excellent set in the Tigers’ 51 attack points. The Tigers also locked down on net defense to frustrate the hitters of UE while scoring eight kill blocks.
The Red Warriors dropped their second straight game in as many outings and eighth straight defeat since last season.
Skipper Geric Ortega got 12 points with all but one coming off kills while Kim Adriano and Clifford Inoferio got 11 and 10 markers, respectively, for UE.
