UAAP VOLLEYBALL: FEU wins second straight, shares early lead

Far Eastern University scored its second straight win in as many games to join idle University of Sto. Tomas for a share of the lead.
Jude Garcia picked up from where he left off a week ago after scattering 22 points to lead Far Eastern University past the pesky Adamson University Falcons, 25-19, 27-29, 25-19, 25-19, Saturday in the 80th UAAP men’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Tamaraws claimed its second straight win after a huge morale-boosting victory over defending three-time champion Ateneo de Manila University last Sunday to join idle University of Sto. Tomas at the top spot.
Garcia, who had 11 markers against the Blue Eagles, uncorked 20 attacks and had two kill blocks for FEU, which will face De La Salle University on Wednesday.
John Paul Bugaoan added 19 markers, 13 coming off kills, while skipper Richard Solis and national team member Peter Quiel combined for 16 points for the Morayta-based squad, which peppered the Falcons defense with 61 attack points while frustrating the hitters of Adamson with 13 kill blocks.
The Falcons dropped their second straight match to remain winless.
Paolo Pablico was hot in the second set as he lead Adamson to handing FEU its first set loss in the tournament but went cold in the third and fourth sets, He finished with 20 points off 15 kills, three kill blocks and a pair of aces while Leo Miranda and John Philip Yude posted 11 and 10 points, respectively.
