UE and FEU shared points after figuring in a scoreless draw, Sunday.
Ninety minutes wasn’t enough to determine a winner as University of the East and Far Eastern University battle to a scoreless draw, Sunday afternoon at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium in UAAP Season 80 Men’s Football Action.
Coming off a loss to University of the Philippines last Thursday, the Red Warriors were looking to bounce back, and managed to push the pace for majority of the match.
Unfortunately for UE, their finishing wasn’t on point, as they weren’t able to convert on any of their multiple chances at a goal.
For their part, last season’s finalists FEU managed to get some good chances of their own, but the injury-riddled Tams were not as aggressive on the offensive side.
National Team keeper RJ Joyel was instrumental in making sure that the Tamaraws didn’t drop their third straight contest.
While UE showed a vastly-improved offensive attack, head coach Fitch Arboleda couldn’t help but feel a bit disappointed, given that they were presented with a number of opportunities to get on the board.
“Medyo disappointed lang, kasi yung naging kulang namin is yung finishing. Actually, talagang alam namin na ma-cocontain namin yung game.” Arboleda said following the match.
Looking at the positive side of things, Arboleda highlighted the fact that his boys were able to bounce back from their loss to UP and survive against at tough side like FEU.
“Yung maganda kasi, we bounced back from our loss against UP, so sana mag-tuloy tuloy lang.”
UE moves to a win, a draw, and a loss for four points in the season.
FEU gets their first point of the year, moving to one draw and two losses in three matches.
