UAAP VOLLEYBALL: FEU keeps tight grip of the lead, downs DLSU

Far Eastern University extended its winning streak to three after adding De La Salle University to its list of victims.
Streaking Eastern University extended its winning run to three after goring De La Salle University, 25-22, 15-25, 30-28, 25-22, Wednesday to tighten its grip of the solo lead in the 80th UAAP men’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
John Paul Bugaoan led the way for the Tamaraws’ third straight win as many outings with 19 points coming off 14 attacks, three kill blocks and a pair of service aces.
Richard Solis chipped in with 14 points while Jude Garcia and national team member Peter Quiel added 11 each for FEU, which frustrated the Green Spikers hitters with solid net defense that the Tams converted to 13 kill blocks.
FEU survived the 22-point explosion of Arjay Onia and the 20-point outing of Raymark Woo to hand DLSU its second loss in three games tied with University of the Philippines and Adamson University.
Onia scored all but one of his points on kills while Woo fired 18 spikes in the Taft-based squad’s 64-attack performance.
Cris Dumago got 14 points and with 18 excellent receptions and 13 digs in a lost cause for DLSU.
