It’s no secret: aside from being one of the more scrutinized squads in the UAAP this season 80, the De La Salle Lady Spikers, being the two-time defending champs and all, are one of the most adored teams.
But the Taft faithful have had a lot of things to say goodbye to entering this tournament. Aside from the production of veteran setter Kim Fajardo, they’ve also had to bid farewell to the swag, leadership, and playmaking she brought to the squad.
But fans are also treated to some good things, like the continued ascent of season 79 MVP Majoy Baron and Kim Dy. One of the most dazzling revelations of the season so far though, is the rise of sophomore setter Michelle Cobb.
Just as fans are saying good bye to their old idols, a new one is arriving as well. Cobb, who just turned 19, has been stepping up whenever Coach Ramil De Jesus calls upon her.
Being the KAFtain’s heir apparent has also put her in sharp focus when she’s on the court, and she delivers, providing fans flashes of what the future holds for the young Lady Spikers squad.

1. She just turned 19 years old.
She was 18 at the start of the season, but she turns a year older today, February 16, as she celebrates her 19th birthday.
2. She’s a “consistent dean’s lister”

3. She’s a swimmer as well
Looking at the pictures below, she looks as comfortable around water as she is on the court.
4. Her favorite local player is Kim Fajardo
Michelle obviously believes in loving your own. Aside from being her senior, Kim Fajardo is a fellow setter who she can successfully pattern her game to. Good thinking.
5. She’s broken the internet twice last season, and she's adding more to her highlight reel
Michelle Cobb has had a hand in breaking the internet for two years now.
In a play from last season. she set up an ultra rare attacking hit for her favorite player, Kim Fajardo!
Here's another highlight from last season. Fresh from the bench, she fires off a jump serve that led to an ace in a crucial point of the match, where DLSU eventually won in straight sets.
This season, her best highlight came when she nailed three pressure-packed service aces as the Lady Spikers come from behind to steal set 3 and to defeat the UP Lady Maroons.
