UAAP VOLLEYBALL: Always and forever, "Happy, happy" is key to Ateneo success

"Wala naman din makakatalo samin if masaya kami eh." --- Ateneo captain Maddie Madayag.
It's been five seasons since Tai Bundit took over as head coach for Ateneo and the key for the Lady Eagles to continue winning still remains the same.
No, the team doesn't necessarily need a destroyer like Alyssa Valdez or a super setter like Jia Morado.
The Lady Eagles just need to be "happy, happy."
Ateneo certainly wasn't happy whe it started Season 80 with back-to-back defeats.
And Saturday against the University of the East, it looked like the Lady Eagles were on their way to another disappointing weekend when the Lady Warriors jumped to an early lead after a rousing 25-21 win in set 1.
"I don't think they knew what to do," team captain Maddie Madayag said on her team's poor start against UE.
"Wala sa focus. Tapos everybody was like 'oh my gosh' and parang hindi na sila happy," she added.
The Lady Eagles flipped the switch by the second set and after a rocky road in set 3, Ateneo was able to finish off UE with a convincing win in set 4.
All the Lady Eagles needed was to stay true to their indentity and play the game "happy, happy."
That's all they need.
"Kailangan lang talaga namin mag-enjoy sa laro. Ever since naman before talaga when coach Tai arrived, masaya kami maglaro," Madayag said.
"Wala naman din makakatalo samin if masaya kami eh," she added.
