UAAP VOLLEYBALL: Champion Eagles soar to third straight win
After losing its season opener, Ateneo has now won three straight for a 3-1 mark, breaking a tie with idle NU and UST, to take over solo second behind unbeated FEU who are playing UP as of press time.

Ateneo De Manila University made quick workd of winless University of the East Saturday in the UAAP Season 80 men's volleyball tournament, scoring a sweep at the San Juan Arena.

The three-time defending champion Blue Eagles were hardly challenged by the Red Warriors and Katipunan rolled to a 25-20, 25-17, 25-15 win.

After losing its season opener, Ateneo has now won three straight for a 3-1 mark, breaking a tie with idle NU and UST, to take over solo second behind unbeaten Far Eastern University.

The Red Warriors dropped to 0-4 with the loss.

Most Valuable Player Marck Espejo led the Blue Eagle offense, going for 16 points on 12 attacks. Red Medalla also finished in double figures for Ateneo, dropping 11 points on 10 kills.

As for UE, Clifford Inoferio led the way with eight points.
